I Scream, You Scream...

Anyone who knows me, knows that I LOVE ice cream. Well my whole family does. We have this unofficial tradition that when we travel we try to find the best ice cream. And it doesn’t matter what time of year it is either! (Like I mentioned in a previous post, ask us for recommendations ;) ) And Vienna is no exception! The first few weeks we were here we didn’t have much time. However, my parents came to visit in November and this is when we discovered Eis Greissler aka heaven on earth.
For my Denver people, I would compare it to Little Man’s in some ways. They have very European flavors like poppyseed (Oli’s favorite), chocolate, Salted pistachio and nutmeg (my personal favorite), rasberry, pumpkin seed oil, goat cheese, apple red beet, and so on. So no rocky road. But the thing I love about this little shop is that they use local ingredients. The milk used is from happy, Austrian, « Sound of Music » cows right outside Vienna. The one thing that is a little bit disappoiting is that they are only open May through October for sure and during the winter it is hit and miss. Which is why we are so excited that it is open!!!
We love supporting local shops. As far as food goes, they are always the most delicious. In fact, as we were walking, thouroughly tucked into our cones, a man came up to us and asked where we had bought them. Clearly, we made them look super good!
So, in the future, I will be testing different pastries and desserts around Vienna and deciding (completely by personaly preference) which is the best! Stay tuned so that if you ever come to visit us (wink wink), you will know EXACTLY where to throw away your hard work at the gym. ;)
