Oh man. As much as I love a good vacation, it always feels good to get back to the normal rhythm and grind of life. Quick update, yes, we are still in Vienna and plan to be for a while (still blows my mind to be honest that I’m “allowed” to live on my own, with Oliver, in a foreign city haha), we’ll be back in the states for Christmas (ahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!), I am continuing my studies online and have chosen to study computer science and Oliver is getting ready to start studying business. We are excited for the rest of the year and what it may bring our way! Now, on to Croatia.

While I am all for going to the beach every day of the week, I loved breaking up the salt and sun with visits to some of the beautiful towns of the island. The first one was Hvar, the main town. I absolutely loved it! Apparently it is a hot destination among the likes of George Clooney. We have walked the same streets as George Clooney. Pretty cool! But that is not the coolest part…it is so DANG pretty!! So the town we stayed in, Savoraj, is a tiny little fishing town that is quaint and everyone knows each other. Hvar is more of a tourist hotspot and has a “bigger” city feel to it. And while I love the country and quiet, nothing beats the energy of a bustling city or in this case large town.

Driving back, we stopped by this town called Vrboska. It is known for its bridges. When I heard bridges, I was thinking full on you can drive across these bad boys kind of bridges. Nope! There was a gentle creek running through the town that fed into the port and across this creek were small, adorable, fairytale bridges!! Picture Belle meets Enchanted meets Aristocats. I picked out the house we will get to retire in. It has a light blue door with matching shutters. Can you say perfect?? I was already sold on this town but as we were walking there was a sound check for a group singing Croatian songs. I don’t know if they were traditional or newer or a blend but I fell in LOVE! It was such an interesting mix of sounds. To my ears it sounded like Hawaiian and Italian music had a baby.

The last city outside our little town we explored was Jelsa. Oh Jelsa. I know I keep saying this but man, I fell in love. It was the perfect blend of old and new. My favorite part of our entire time spent in the city was after dinner (and ice cream of course) when we went on a walk. Two little girls were walking behind us, gabbing away about this and that in German and Croatian. Now obviously the Croatian went in one ear and out the other but the German parts I could pick up on. They were in a heated debate about princesses and, from what I understood, discussing how every girl can be a princess. Shouldn’t we all be thinking like that? We are of great value! So even though the city was gorgeous, the lesson those darling girls retaught me was invaluable.

Croatia was a dreamland. I can’t wait to explore it even more and make heaps of memories!!
